Boredoms - Super Roots 9

Artist: Boredoms
Album: Super Roots 9
Year: 2007
Genre(s): Noise rock, psychedelic, experimental

I usually like to space out releases from the same artist, and I know I just put up a Boredoms album last night, but then I listened to this and... well... words won't do it justice. This is easily the best thing I've heard this year, even though it didn't come out this year. I could not recommend this more highly.

New Flaming Lips EP continues in the same direction as Embryonic, though it seems a bit more relaxed and minimalistic. Very good.

Melt-Banana - Peel Session

Artist: Melt-Banana
Album: Peel Session
Year: 2001?
Genre(s): Noise rock, punk

Not much information on this out there. My tags were wacky, and I fixed them, but when I went to make the .rar file they still looked messed up. So here's the track order in case it's still fucked up.

1. Wedge
2. Seesaw Semiology
3. RRaGG
4. FDC For Short
5. Free The Bee
6. Flash Cube Or Eyeball
7. Ether Twisted
8. First Contact To Planet Q/Warp, Back Spin
9. Third Attack
10. Flip And Hit
11. Stimulus For Revolting Virus
12. Tintarelli Di Luna
13. Lost In Mirror
14. Spathic!
15. Plot In A Pot

By the way, the picture is Melt-Banana performing Spathic! at the Peel session, so it's not the actual cover. I don't think there is an actual cover.

Dylan Ettinger - Cutters

Artist: Dylan Ettinger
Album: Cutters
Year: 2010

A really interesting listen. For some reason this reminds me of the Residents a little bit, though it's not quite just outright weird alien music. Recommended.

Holy Page Records

Pretty good net label run by one of our followers here on the Big Dipster. The bands range from indie rock to noise to drone to ambient and more; it's all at the very least interesting and some of it is quite good. You should check it out; everything is free for download.

The Residents - Animal Lover

Artist: The Residents
Album: Animal Lover
Year: 2005
Genre(s): Avant-garde

This album is worth it for My Window alone, which is easily one of their best tracks, and all the other tracks on it are great too. This is probably the best Residents album from the last ten years. Presented here with both discs.

Sunn O))) - Black One

Artist: Sunn O)))
Album: Black One
Year: 2005
Genre(s): Drone, doom, black metal

Sunn O)))'s sixth album delves a bit into experimenting with black metal, including a few "covers." I've provided the special two-disc version (which is hard-to-find, if you're actually looking to buy this; usually only the first disc is available). This is one of their best albums; get it.

Cool noise/drone group related to Pelt using mostly conventional acoustic instruments. Highly recommended. I'll probably be posting a lot of them in the next couple weeks.

I had no idea Goes Cube would be coming out with a new album this year, this hit me by surprise the other day. Goes Cube was shown to me by fellow Dipster DW a couple years ago, and ever since I have been waiting for new material. Its finally here and its heavy, raw, and a great follow up to their debut.

Squid Lid - Steam Powered Submarine

Artist: Squid Lid
Album: Steam Powered Submarine
Year: 2009
Genre(s): Electronic, experimental

I haven't listened to this, besides briefly previewing it, but what I heard sounded pretty cool. From what I can tell, they are a really bizarre electronic performing act that sounds like something between a mix of various popular electronic genres and circus music.

Poached Goat - Laceration Cave

Artist: Poached Goat
Album: Laceration Cave
Year: 2009
Genre(s): Noise, drone, dark ambient

This project, which still exists but the sound has changed, is another project of mine which existed before Kolihapeltis. This album, Laceration Cave, is probably the noise album I feel best about that I've created. It is made through entirely digital means and mostly from warping samples of other songs and composing the parts that came out. I don't remember everything I used, but it ranges from Lustmord to Jesu to The Mars Volta to Lotus Eaters to Sunn O))) to Merzbow and a lot more. This is an album about a cave. Enjoy.
