Please read the post below for details. I have chosen tumblr for my posting needs.

I still working on some stuff for the blog, but I want to start updating daily with news, reviews, album leaks etc.

Thanks everyone for reading, and I hope you will keep reading. Keep sending submissions too!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Its been about a month since my last post.
Sorry about that. I have a couple reasons why.

My mediafire getting suspended was a major reason for the slowing of posts. I have also not been listening to much new music, mostly stuff I'm very familiar with. So most submissions (until recently) have been ignored because of this. I have also been doing a blog about gaming and chiptune music. (anyone interested in reading that? Probably not)

So here is my plan for the future of The Big Dipster. Work mainly on posting from submissions, supplying new, free, independent music for the readers. For other music released on major labels I plan on writing small reviews for the albums. I will probably link you to another blog if you wish to download these albums. I do not want upload any major releases anymore.

I also have two major changes in mind.

The first of the two changes will be the name. I always refer the blog as The Dipster when I talk to people about it, so I'm dropping big from the name. Second, I will be changing locations (maybe Tumblr?) I don't like how blogger is set up anymore.

I plan on getting this all rolling soon and kinda starting fresh. Help is also appreciated. Send suggestions etc. to or just comment on this post.

Thanks for reading everyone

A Great Big Pile of Leaves
Have You Seen My Prefrontal Cortex?
Indie / Pop
For Fans of: The Speed of Sound In Seawater, Look Mexico, Menomena

Download/Buy (Bandcamp)

No free download unfortunately. All mediafire links I have found have been removed. Check out these guys still, this whole album can be streamed on their Bandcamp, and its worth the $5 it costs. Check out the Tumblr link too and see if any of the downloads work there. They didn't work for me, and there is a link for this CD (11 of 13 tracks free) on their site. I may upload my personal copy in the future, but if you have noticed I have been trying to avoid doing that. Enjoy the music, support the artist etc.

North Korea
Basement Tapes Vol II
Alternative/Post Hardcore/Experimental
For Fans of: Envy on the Coast, Deftones, Dillinger Escape Plan

Released for free today! I personally think Vol I is a bit better than this EP, but this is still a strong one. This is also a proper mediafire link, unlike Vol I which looked annoying to download off their website, sorry for those who tried to download there. Enjoy!

Nvll - Nvllcept [2010]

Metal/Math Metal/Progressive
For Fans of: Tyrant of Death, Ketha

This is just good metal. Couldn't think of many bands like them, even though they aren't super original. I'm not too sure the tags and similar bands listed provide enough insight on these guys. They just include elements of math and progressive metal in their music, they really don't belong into either of those sub-genres. Ill provide a link to a song below so you can check them out before you download.

Irepress - Sol Eye Sea I [2009]

Sol Eye Sea I
Instrumental/Post Metal/Experimental
For Fans of: Tephra, Isis, Zozobra, Or any post rock/metal band

This is probably one of my favorite (mostly) instrumental records right now. The heavy parts are sick, and the more ambient parts are hypnotizing.

Circa Survive - Blue Sky Noise [2010]

Circa Survive
Blue Sky Noise
For Fans of: The Sound of Animals Fighting, A lot Like Birds, Thrice

Note: Don't let the emo tag prevent a download. I added that tag because of the of the higher pitch vocalist, and some of the lyrical content. Here is a youtube link of what I think is a good song by them, this will give you an idea of their sound.

Oceana - Clean Head EP [2010]

Clean Head EP
For Fans of: Tides of Man, Of Machines, Amplifier

The Dipster Lives On!

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you guys know that I will keep updating the blog after the loss of my partner. I will be making a couple small changes to the blog, nothing that is really going to effect the blog much, so worry not.

First I am no longer going to be uploading anything to my personal mediafire account. I'm just going to supply links from albums already posted on the internet. I will upload smaller local stuff if I need to. I will also make sure the downloads are high quality and will still be using mediafire links as the primary download solution.

Something I'm sure regular readers will notice will be the selection of music ill be posting. Say goodbye to regular noise and power electronic stuff. DW posted all that, and Its not really my thing. Not to say I don't like or listen to the genre, I just don't search around for it. DW also posted a lot more than me, and with one person updating now the posts will be less frequent, sorry!

Last, Ill probably be making a new banner, and probably a new blog layout. Gotta change things up every once in a while. If anyone wants to throw ideas at me that would be cool. This is a future plan for when I have time. Im also going to try a new posting format, thinking about adding some additional info like a for fans of section.

Thanks for reading guys! And thanks DW for posting so much music in the past year and a half. Ill be posting a couple albums shortly.
