Colony is a really solid project which we received as a submission we received a little bit ago. It's mostly very minimal ambient drone with sparse beats and sometimes slight elements of IDM and dubstep, finding a solid place in the more experimental side of electronic music without getting too lost in the weirdness. Bandcamp link contains a free download.
Artist: The Sword Album: The Sword (Demo) Year: 2004 Genre(s): Stoner metal
I saw these guys open for ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and The Octopus Project back in 2004 or 2005 when nobody had any idea who the Sword was and before Age Of Winters. Their live show was really impressive, so I picked up their demo for $5. All three of these songs appear on Age Of Winters (but I like these raw versions better). You should check it out.
Artist: Nirvana Album: Porch Songs Year: 1994 Genre(s): Alternative
This is a rare bootleg release of a live set from Paradiso in Amsterdam from November 1991. Right after Nevermind. So it's a sick set. My only complaint would be that sometimes the volume is a bit inconsistent, but overall the quality is pretty good.
If you want to submit any material to us in hopes that we'll put it up, send it to bigdipster@yahoo.com. Put the subject as "Submission" or "Big Dipster submission" or just anything that will tell us it's not just spam. If we don't get back to you in a few days letting you know we got it, you may want to send again because it probably was marked as spam. Though we'll let you know we got your submission, it may take a bit for us to get around to listening to it and putting it up, so have patience. Don't just send us a sample, send full releases (demos, EPs, albums, cassettes, splits, whatever). Don't send us material that you did not make. If it's a split make sure the artist you did it with is cool with you sending it. Genre doesn't matter, but keep it quality. Thanks.
Welcome to The Big Dipster. This blog is intended to expose people to music they might not otherwise be exposed to. We do not aim to focus on any one genre, and rather will share anything at all that we find enjoyable in the underground scene. Please try to support these artists and buy their releases and merchandise and see them live. If you were working this hard to make music, you'd want support, too. If any artist or label wants music removed, just tell us and we will make it of our highest priority to remove any links/uploaded music and comply.
Now that that's out of the way, our team currently consists of one member, KB. We hope you enjoy the posts to come.
Feel free to email us links to music of any kind you think we might enjoy, and if we do, we'll share it. Feel free to request music you want. If we have it and we feel like it, we'll put it up for you. We don't have all the music in the world though, so if it's too obscure, we might not have it. Never hurts to ask, though, and we could maybe find it for you. Also, please let us know if files are corrupted or if links are down. We will fix it as soon as possible!
